Our Tyler Hill Teen and CIT program is vibrant, engaging, dynamic, and is planned with our 9th, 10th and 11th grade campers in mind. Leadership opportunities and “unplugged camp life” create the perfect balance for our maturing teenage campers. From exclusive community service programs and more flexible and choice-based programming to exciting trips out of camp, we continue to create an incredible environment in which our oldest campers thrive. And they return year after year because they can’t imagine ever spending a summer away from the friends they have made at Tyler Hill.
The Teen & CIT Programs begin with diverse programming, more day trips out of camp (including visits to college campuses), more daily choice and flexibility, a later wake-up (they ARE teenagers, after all), many community service opportunities and strong staff and supervision. Our Upper Campers develop leadership skills at camp that then translate to their home and school lives.
Our CIT – “Counselors In Training” (going into 11th grade) are also part of our apprenticeship program in camp, through which they get to work in a specialty area and with a younger age group of campers. For several hours each week, CIT’s are assigned to work with these groups so that they can see what it will be like to come back the following summer as Junior Counselors. Furthermore, our CIT’s plan and run our annual THC OLYMPICS — where they shine and spread their spirit and leadership with the entire camp. It’s a highlight and culmination of their years at camp. We provide structure, supervision, feedback and training so that they are successful AND prepared for their next summer as part of our staff!
